Advertorial · Emily Johnson · Part 2 of “Where Were You?”
God Asked Job About Places No Man Had Ever Seen. Here's What The One Man Who Went Actually Saw.
You read the questions. You know Job never answered a single one. Below, every one of God's questions sits next to the page where Enoch describes that exact place, printed word for word as it reads in the book. Then the 10-second check that tells you you're holding the real one.

First, God's questions, on one page
Job had lost his children, his health and everything he owned. For 37 chapters he begged God to answer him. When God finally spoke out of the whirlwind, this is what He asked. Every line is in the Bible you already own.
1
Job 38:4 · 38:6“Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?… or who laid the corner stone thereof”
2
Job 38:16“Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?”
3
Job 38:17“Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?”
4
Job 38:22“Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail”
5
Job 40:15 · 41:1“Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee…” “Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook?”
?
Did anyone ever go?Job never answers. The story moves on. The 66 books never take you there.
Read them slowly. God isn't asking about ideas. He's asking about places. Springs. Gates. Doors. A corner stone. Treasuries with snow and hail inside them.
A God who cannot lie doesn't ask a man if he's been somewhere that doesn't exist.
Then an angel asked Ezra the same questions
2 Esdras was printed in the King James Bible in 1611. Most Bibles today don't have it. In chapter 4, an angel comes to the prophet Ezra and asks him almost exactly what God asked Job. Then he says what Ezra would have to answer.
2 ESDRASCHAPTER 4
7 He said to me, “If I had asked you, ‘How many dwellings are there in the heart of the sea? Or how many springs are there at the fountain head of the deep? Or how many streams are above the firmament? Or which are the exits of hell? Or which are the entrances of paradise?’
8 perhaps you would say to me, ‘I never went down into the deep, or as yet into hell, neither did I ever climb up into heaven.’
So it wasn't a riddle. It was a list. Real places God built, that no prophet had ever walked into.
God asked. Job couldn't answer. Ezra never went.
No man had been there. Except one.
The one man who went
Genesis gives him one line: “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” The Bible never says where he walked, or what he saw.
But Jude, the brother of Jesus, quotes Enoch's own words in the New Testament. Jude was reading a book. That book is the Book of Enoch, and this is where it begins to answer God's questions. Here's Enoch, carried up, exactly as it's printed in the Faith Made Ethiopian Bible.
THE BOOK OF ENOCHCHAPTERS 14–15
8 …the winds in the vision caused me to fly and lifted me upward, and bore me into heaven.
9 And I went in till I drew nigh to a wall which is built of crystals and surrounded by tongues of fire: and it began to affright me.
10 And I went into the tongues of fire and drew nigh to a large house which was built of crystals…
13 And I entered into that house, and it was hot as fire and cold as ice…
20 And the Great Glory sat thereon, and His raiment shone more brightly than the sun and was whiter than any snow.
24 And until then I had been prostrate on my face, trembling: and the Lord called me with His own mouth, and said to me: ‘Come hither, Enoch, and hear my word.’
CHAPTER 15
1 …and I heard His voice: ‘Fear not, Enoch, thou righteous man and scribe of righteousness: approach hither and hear my voice.’
If you've seen videos about a crystal wall surrounded by fire, this is the passage they come from. Read where Enoch says it is: he was lifted up into heaven.
To Job, God spoke out of a storm, with questions. To Enoch, He said, “Come hither.” Then, “Fear not.”
Job got questions. Enoch got an invitation.
Every question, next to what Enoch saw
Then the angels took Enoch out to see the world God made. Here are God's questions on the left. On the right is the line where Enoch stands in that place.
God asks · Job 38:4, 6
“Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?… or who laid the corner stone thereof”
Enoch saw · Enoch 18:1–2
“I saw how He had furnished with them the whole creation and the firm foundations of the earth. And I saw the corner-stone of the earth…”
God asks · Job 38:16
“Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?”
Enoch saw · Enoch 17:7
“I saw the mountains of the darkness of winter and the place whence all the waters of the deep flow.”
God asks · Job 38:17
“Have the gates of death been opened unto thee?”
Enoch saw · Enoch 22:2–3, 9
“…four hollow places, deep and wide and very smooth… created for this very purpose, that the spirits of the souls of the dead should assemble therein… And such a division has been made 〈 for 〉 the spirits of the righteous, in which there is the bright spring of water.”
God asks · Job 38:22
“Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail”
Enoch saw · Enoch 34:1–2
“And from thence I went towards the north to the ends of the earth… And here I saw three portals of heaven open in the heaven… when they blow there is cold, hail, frost, snow, dew, and rain.”
God asked. Job couldn't answer. Enoch went.
And what happened to Behemoth and Leviathan
William Blake, “Behemoth and Leviathan,” about 1805–10.
God told Job to look at two creatures He made. Then the story moves on, and Job never finds out what became of them. 2 Esdras tells you.
2 ESDRASCHAPTER 6
49 “Then you preserved two living creatures. The one you called Behemoth, and the other you called Leviathan.
50 You separated the one from the other; for the seventh part, namely, where the water was gathered together, might not hold them both.
51 To Behemoth, you gave one part, which was dried up on the third day, that he should dwell in it, in which are a thousand hills;
52 but to Leviathan you gave the seventh part, namely, the watery part. You have kept them to be devoured by whom you wish, when you wish.
If “a thousand hills” sounds familiar, it should. Psalm 50:10: “For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.”
He didn't lose them. He's keeping them.
The storehouses are full, and they've been opened before
John Martin, “The Seventh Plague of Egypt,” 1823.
Right after God asks Job about the treasures of the hail, He tells him why He keeps them: “Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?” (Job 38:23)
Your Bible shows Him opening them.
Once on Egypt“…the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt… such as there was none like it.”Exodus 9:23–24
Once in battle“…they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.”Joshua 10:11
Once more, at the end“…a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent.”Revelation 16:21
The treasuries Job never saw. The doors Enoch watched open. They're full, and they're waiting for a day God has already set.
That's how big the world God made really is. And that's how big He is.
Why this matters when your prayers hit the ceiling
Before God ever spoke out of the whirlwind, Job prayed this: “I cry unto thee, and thou dost not hear me: I stand up, and thou regardest me not.” (Job 30:20)
A lot of good people are praying that right now. Church every Sunday. Bible on the nightstand. And the words go up about as far as the ceiling and stop.
Here's what I finally understood. The world most of us were handed is small. Rock and water and empty space, with nothing behind any of it. When the world gets small, God gets small with it, and without meaning to we start praying to a God who fits in the room.
God never explained Job's suffering. He showed him how big He is. And Job said:
“I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.”Job 42:5
Not a better prayer. A bigger God. Here's what that looks like once these pages are in your house.
The next stormThe hail hits the window and you open Job 38 and Enoch 34 side by side. You know where it's kept, and you know Who holds the key.
The question about deathSomeone you love asks what happens after we die. Instead of “we'll find out one day,” you show them the place made for the righteous, by the bright spring of water.
Your prayersYou stop praying to a ceiling. You're praying to the God who walked a man through the foundations of the earth and said “Fear not.”
Job 38 itselfThe chapter you've read a dozen times stops being a rebuke and becomes a map.
Why you were never handed these pages
The first King James Bible, in 1611, had 80 books, 2 Esdras among them. In 1826, a Bible society in London voted to stop paying to print 14 of them, and within a few years most English Bibles had 66. Almost nobody alive today has held the other 14.
The Book of Enoch was never in the King James at all. But it never went away. Jude quoted it. The early church read it. And in 1952, copies of Enoch turned up among the Dead Sea Scrolls, in the caves at Qumran, the same site that gave us the oldest copies of Isaiah ever found.
For more than 1,500 years, one church on earth kept every one of these books in its Bible and never let them go. The church in Ethiopia. The Ethiopian Bible has 88 books: every one of the 66 you know, plus Enoch, 2 Esdras, Jubilees and the rest.
People have tried to bury these books for 2,000 years. But you can't bury what God is guarding.
God asked. Job couldn't answer. Enoch went. And Ethiopia kept the record.

Isn't this adding to Scripture?
Nobody is adding a word to the 66. They're all in here, untouched. 2 Esdras was printed in the 1611 King James. Enoch is the book Jude quoted by name, the one the Ethiopian church never stopped copying, and the one found among the Dead Sea Scrolls. Read them as the books God's people kept, and judge them by the Bible you already trust.
Is the print small?
No. It's two columns with type bigger than most Bibles.
Is there a subscription?
The Bible is a one-time purchase. Nothing about the book renews. The optional Faith Made app, with the eBook and audio, starts with a free trial and then renews unless you cancel. That's shown before you pay.

It's probably for you if
You've read Job 38 a dozen times and wondered if anyone ever answered
You've always sensed the world God made is bigger than the one you were taught
You've prayed into silence and decided the problem was you
There's someone in your family who asks the questions nobody at church can answer
Here's your choice, and it's yours
You can close this page and go back to the Bible you've always had. It will still save you. But the next time you read “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?” you'll know there was a man who stood on them, and a book that tells you what he saw. And you'll know you walked away from it.
Or tonight you do what more than 100,000 others did, and take back what was taken before you were born.
God asked Job, “Where were you?” Job couldn't answer. Now you can go where Job never went.

P.S. The first thing I'd read is Job 38, then Enoch 14 right after it. One is God asking a suffering man where he was. The other is God telling a man to come closer and not be afraid. Read them back to back and see if God doesn't get bigger.
